on november 18 i wrote about a woman i worked with on 3NE whose son was exceptionally supportive and, despite being 88 years old, wanted to continue to live in her home alone. i've seen her in the hospital since, tho never back on 3NE. today, just now actually, she coded and passed away. the son looked shell-shocked and devistated and another relative was sobbing in the hallway. i feel so sad for the family and hopeful that she was able to stay in her home until the end. i also feel torn that i can't do anything, even talk to the son, because i'm not in my official role and i'm not sanctioned to anything social work-ey unless i'm being supervised. i am saying a prayer for this woman and her family.

that's a hard thing to see, and it's a tough road we have chosen. have you thought about how you are going to process these events and emotions? try not to lose your ability to give out compassion, love and caring, but remember to put up your forcefield so you don't lose yourself. (look who's talking!!)
