chaplin

it's ironic that i was talking with lori the other day about thinking of becoming a chaplin in my next career. yesterday on 3NE there were two patients who wanted to talk about their spiritual beliefs with me. the second asked me to call the chaplin for him so he could talk more. i think more and more whatever it is we "put out there" - energy, ideas, hopes, fears - come back somehow. when i called the chaplin, she was the warmest, most welcoming person i talked to all day. her energy just pulled me in and i felt like i'd known her, even tho i've only seen her around. i hope she was able to connect with my patient and provide some comfort for him.

on a side note, i put the term "faith community" in my note regarding the first patient, as in "this patient gets a lot of support from her faith community". like, her church, but also people who are in her community who may not go to church or whatever. seemed clear to me. jeff said: what do you mean by faith? ummm ... faith?

Chaplain Dena. hm. interesting. i couldn't agree more that what you "put out there" comes back. the more i work toward where i wanna be, the better things go. is that faith? maybe i should ask Jeff....
