UMC is the only trauma hospital in tucson now, so we get traumas from all over southern arizona. if someone who is involved in a trauma comes to the hospital and, for whatever reason, they don't have identification they are assigned a "trauma name." these can be the place they came from and two letters that differentiate them from the other trauma from that location. for example: gilbert, hj; baja, hi; or iron, hj. someone just got admitted to the ICU with the name: CABBAGE, HJ. i am of the belief that there are no circumstances under which people should be named after vegetables. can you imagine being the family: yes, mr. so-and-so, your daughter, cabbage, hj, is in room such-and-such.

also, i just delivered methadone to 7E. that's the maternity floor. *sigh*
